Establishing my framework and collecting my thoughts

If you are reading this, welcome. You are someone who follows me via Google alerts or a life stream feed. This blog is not even published yet. In fact there not even any design. Right now I am in the process of removing all the CSS and making the page bare bones.

Each night while working at home, I listen to marketing and interesting podcasts and while I am working I come up with ideas. If I structure myself more, I would just podcast my thoughts but until then I am blogging them. Sometimes I twitter the messages but they are too long so I am journaling them.

Slowly I will be designing this site but I am really not sure what I want it to be. I want it to push my career, inspire my art and document my mistakes or accomplishments.

The first problem I am looking into is my company website. AlexDesigns.com – I have not redesigned it in years, but it really needs a facelift. Right now, I don’t to use it to get me more clients or establish me as a better designer. I just want it to be a place where I can establish my brand and use it as an umbrella site for all of the things that I am interested in. I also dont want to just jump into a redesign and break my SEO rankings or the top keywords that I market to.

For instance I rank well for a number of ecommerce keywords but I recently started a separate ecommerce blog to just focus there. I slowly want to move that traffic to this new site for NetSuite Web Design. So if I just change my site and remove the links, I will just lose the traffic and lose leads. So I am moving to do is strategically and document the move.

And the interesting thing from this post is to see who is following me. How on top is the competition of my company. I like it, it make us complete better projects and learn really where I want my business to go. So yes, we are expanding and learning about each new step in setting up my framework, but for now I am removing everything and starting from scratch with many years of collecting my thoughts.
